Summer Time/ New Issue

PAINTING WITH LIGHT FROM 2005

June 09 -
Hey all. The Studio visits have been great. Will have one for Mid July. Will post up the information very soon. In the meantime been working on a few projects and decided to publish a new zine issue over at OpenZine.com.

They are a group of photos taken in 2005 when I started to play with light drawing. My brother took the pictures in my old studio. Take a look and I'll post new info soon. The summer has been good to me so far and I plan on some trips soon. RIP to Michael Jackson. I wrote his name in this issue before he passed away. I thought it was kind of interesting, I just did automatic writing with peoples names and his was one that came out along with Hemingway, Madonna etc.

OPEN STUDIO/HAPPY HOUR/THE GLASS STUDIO

May 09 - The past 2 studio visits have been very productive and actually has bridged a gap I've felt that my art was being blocked from public viewing for a while. I'm pretty unconventional so I think this is working out very nicely for the type of dialog it's beginning to create. You can see it as it is. Paintings everywhere, where they are created. Best part of all is...if someone missed the last one...now's the time to make up for it.

I will continue to put these together. This brings something new to the studio visit/open studio idea. The fine people from CoveringsEtc. which owns the property The Glass Studio is located are having a happy hour reception for winning an award at ICFF 2009 in in New York City recently. I figured this would be another great time to invite friends and art patrons to experience all the fine things happening at this new creative campus.

The New Studio Visit

NEW SHOW AT  KIKI VALDES' WORK SPACE, THE GLASS STUDIO

April 09- Kiki Valdes is opening up for the first time his newly built workspace “The Glass Studio” for a special public viewing of new works. On April 25, Valdes will offer an informal and raw presentation of exhibiting works within the very studio in which they were created, offering a fundamental way for art and public interaction to cross feed in a way, which rarely gets experienced.

This is an interesting time for Miami's cultural communities to gather for a valid experience of new contemporary art. “The New Studio Visit” will be an unconventional gathering
with expressionist plates of new painting with high regard to imagery and process. The artist draws from the inner initiative process of composition building and urban life in Miami. Valdes considers himself an artist drawn to Modern art for political, social and scientific reasons.

“At times of war art should be as expressive and as dramatic as possible to really trigger how contemporary life feels, Valdes said.

I also got to make some friends in the corporate world which was nice. I have to thank Telefonica America and Forums Inc. for making this possible for me. It was an amazing time.
